Portland Adventist Academy is Building a New School

See our latest newsletter HERE

Portland Adventist Academy is built on the belief that we are at our best when we live lives that are Christ-centered and Character-driven. Nurturing students to understand that simply believing in Jesus is different than living as a disciple, transforms everything we do. In the same way that the lives of our students are being transformed through their PAA experience, we are embarking on a journey to transform our campus to better serve our students and fulfill our mission.

Portland Adventist Academy has been in our current facilities for 52 years. The time has come to update our campus in order to continue to serve our students with excellence. After carefully weighing the options to remodel or rebuild, PAA’s Board of Directors determined that the educational and facility needs of the future require a new building and a fresh start.

This project will transform all areas of the high school, as well as allowing growth for the future. The expansion will enhance student learning and experiences in spiritual life, performing arts, athletics, and more. It’s a great time to be a Portland Adventist Academy Cougar!

We are currently in the initial stages of Phase One.* When Phase One is complete, it will include a new 29,000 sq. ft. building that will feature:

  • A 500 seat chapel
  • Music department
  • Welcome center
  • Administrative offices

We have already completed the following features of Phase One:

  • All-weather lighted sports field
  • Parking lot
  • Infrastructure to support current & future expansion (electrical, sewer, grading, etc.)

PAA began an initial campaign in 2006 that raised approximately $4.9 million. During the spring of 2014 we revisited the project’s feasibility with a new study that gave PAA confidence that we could raise an additional $2.8 million to complete Phase One funding. In July of 2014 we began progress on site development, a parking lot, and a sports field. The site development, parking, and field were put in first to free-up the northern section of the property for land-lease development opportunities. The lighted, artificial turf field is already serving our soccer teams, our softball team, and summer camps.

Phase One is a $7.7 million project and we’re currently working on raising the remaining $2.8 million needed to finish funding it.

  • We’ve raised over $1.3 million so far!
  • Our timeline for Phase One is to raise the $2.8 million by the end of 2016. This will allow us to complete Phase One as described above.
  • We are currently having conversations with individuals in our community that have indicated a desire to provide leadership to this campaign.
  • We plan to launch the public portion of the campaign in the fall 2016.

Portland Adventist Academy will move forward into a bright future due to the incredible generosity of donors in this campaign. God is truly blessing our school and exciting times are just around the corner!

Funding for Phase Two is projected to be completed by the end of 2019 and funding for Phase Three is projected to be completed by the end of 2022. Phase Two will involve classrooms, a library, performing arts studios, a video editing suit, and a small performance studio. Phase Three will complete the project with a gymnasium, rock climbing gym, a cafeteria, and an auto technology center.
