One Project and Eight PAA Students

Last month, Pastor Mackenzie traveled to California with eight PAA students. Their final destination was The Crosswalk Church in Redlands for the annual *One Project conference.

This group of students were selected because of their dedication to spiritual leadership at PAA. They were invited to participate in worship, conversation, and activities all centered on the ministry of Jesus.

Making this trip exceptional was finding that they were the only high school students in attendance.

A Spectrum article addressed the generational gap often blamed for the decreasing numbers of young adults in the SDA church. In it, PAA senior Gam Reyes shared this:

“When you come to a church like that, you’d expect to see a lot of young people,” Gam explained, speaking to the modern looking space and the contemporary music. “But I looked over, and there was this elderly guy, and he was there with his arms raised. I thought it was so cool.”

The trip gave the students a chance to see spiritual leaders committed to ministry founded 100% on Jesus’ teachings.

*What is the One Project?  The One project seeks—through gatherings, conversations, web-based content, and Christ-focused publications—to stimulate preaching, worship, and adoration of Jesus within and through the Adventist church.
