PAA Welcomes Sam Vigil Jr., CFRE

Portland Adventist Academy welcomes Sam Vigil Jr., Certified Fund Raising Executive, as the new Director of Development.

“We are thrilled Sam is joining our PAA Cougar family,” says Mechelle Peinado, interim principal. “Sam has experience in all aspects of development, from events to annual giving, as well as major gifts. He has also been an active member of Portland’s Adventist community for 24 years.”

As a Certified Fund Raising Executive with 13 years of experience in development and more than 14 years experience in public relations and marketing communications, Sam brings the knowledge necessary to build a firm foundation for PAA’s current and future students. His expertise in donor acquisition and engagement, prospect development, major gifts, and more brings fresh energy to the school.

Sam says several things attracted him to PAA including the Christ-centered mission of transforming the lives of young people to be followers of Jesus Christ.

“Another thing that struck me was the open and honest conversations I had with Principal Mechelle Peinado,” he says. “Openness and honesty are things I value and are key to developing trust in personal relationships as well as with our donors.”

The chance to share PAA’s mission to transform lives and to invite others to join the call resonates deeply with Sam.

“I think that in each of us there is a desire to have an impact in the world,” says Sam. “That’s something that we can nurture and grow in young people at PAA who serve Jesus Christ. Then it becomes a ripple effect. Transforming the life of one young person who then influences one or two others, and so on, just compounds the influence we have here at PAA. That’s an exciting prospect.”
